because there was an ad or introduction to the square space site
which totally confused me as well because I am not quite sure as a longtime FASO member if I get the benefit or having my art introduced or promoted to anyone
on the beauty side of the equation I have heard it said many times for years that there is no accounting for taste which makes it totally OK to like whatever you like and consider that as beauty and what you do not like as not beauty since the entire subject is decided by your personal taste
to take your example with the drawing of the beautiful lady who with a slight shift turns into an Old Hag as you put it -
but perhaps to someone or a great number of people that Old Hag is a beautiful loving soul
there that touches on perhaps a different definition of beauty and so there perception may be turned upside down or inside out
since the beauty of a person may be only skin deep but their being - personality - soul - spirit may emanate the most beautiful being in the world
Yes, the mindset that sees the sacred beauty of the old hags soul is the idea I’m trying to get across. Surface beauty may be objective but real transcendent beauty is in the (spiritual) eye of the behokder.
this is exactly why it may take many years or perhaps centuries for anyone to appreciate a certain body of work created by any artist
and exactly why I created my version of Christ that was supposedly an original Leonardo Da'Vinci since the retouched version (or restored version) that sold for some 450 million dollars at auction was too much of a pretty boy or too close to the Mona Lisa:
of course I am able to sense differing beauty as well in different parts of my life and once I was told by a famous Japanese artist whose work I had photographed that he had never seen his art photographed so beautifully - and I had never realized that my view of what I was photographing actually had that much of an effect on the results until that point in time
I'm a bit confused. What does an article about beauty have to do with a FASO website? I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but you can reply to the newsletter which should come to me, or email FASO support for clarification any time.
First I agree that without humans beauty or light does not exist. Nothing would exist without a entity that has consciousness and an ability realize it. And ascertain it’s place within it. The universe would be as it always has been and no one would be there to comment or appreciate the “ beauty “ we find in its complexities as conscious observers.
Beauty, as we try and explain it, is complex. But not impossible to explain.
For me it starts with the statement of “ beauty being in the eye of the beholder. Which, is a misnomer and inaccurate.
Briefly, we have come to agree the world has a symmetry. Balance if you will. Humanity, to a great degree has, over time, come to understand this symmetry extends to everything created. Humans included. It is the cornerstone of life. Hence, things beautiful has this symmetry.
I believe if one has not come to study or understand this symmetry, the phrase “….eye of the beholder” statement is wrong. Humans and artists in particular, have studies this symmetry and come to understand beauty is determined by this quality.
Those who understand and appreciate this factor know beauty. And in making anything in any medium strive for this “ symmetry or translates to what is beautiful.
I have written a blog on this subject on my FASO Page under the title “ Symmetry”.
the bee holder's eye is truly beautiful

I love this idea but how does this differ from my FASO site? Also could I easily move all of my data to the site?

Surface, worldly, beauty may be (mostly) objective to physical eyes, but real, transcendent beauty is in the (spiritual) eye of the beholder.
“If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light”
If one wishes to sell art though, one should probably pursue depicting objective beauty, symmetry, as you point out.
“Surface, worldly, beauty may be (mostly) objective to physical eyes.”
These are the only eyes we use to look at art. I leave the spiritual to the supernatural.
