Art is God's Word to the world.

Beautiful, yes. I was about to leave a comment myself expressing a similar sentiment. Art is truth; it is the way Creation wishes to express itself. It is the language of the soul. This is why art is so deeply connecting, and why it reveals the truth, if we are willing to see it.

My definition of art? It's intentionally vague. It's a paraphrase of Georgia O'Keefe's paraphrase of Arther Dow's definition of art. Here goes:

" 'Art' is filling a space in a beautiful way". So that could apply to painting, dance, music, sculpture, photography, architecture, you name it. Hope that helps.

I truly appreciate what you have written. I found myself drifting into my mind's eye as I read this. I'm currently stuck between creating my own visions as opposed to works that fit the criteria of the 'assignments' of my gallerie's and show's expectations. I'm bucking their expectations in order to express my own visions, but there's that underlying concern that what I'm giving them is not going to meet their market. It's a conundrum because I'm in a stage of life where I have to be me, truly authentic to my vision, yet overcome that push to sell. Thank you for your thoughts because they are giving me permission to continue my own journey to push for Resonance.

Art is what puts us in a different realm from other life forms. I know that some animals can create tools and other useful objects. But can they create something that expresses their internal life? I think that art is the essence of expression. And it doesn't have to be beautiful. Art can express ugliness and a whole array of negative emotions. It's the act of affecting other people's emotions by using color, movement, words, shapes, and other things that express a thought or feeling. But above all, art is kind of like God... it's impossible to grasp or define.
